What is Seven Generations Innovation?
A civic platform in Spokane, Washington, founded by writer, musician, and conservation advocate Ronald D. Reed. It brings together environmental stewardship, civic responsibility, and cultural expression — advancing long-term thinking in a short-term world. We publish original writing, original music, and public-interest work, free, on this site.
What does subscribing get me?
The Quarterly — a digest of new essays, recordings, and civic work — plus first notice of live shows and listening sessions. Roughly four to six emails a year. No spam, no upsells.
Is subscribing paid?
No. Subscribing is free, and everything we publish is free to read and listen to. A paid subscription is never required.
Why "seven generations"?
The name comes from the Seventh Generation Principle — a long-standing Indigenous governance philosophy that asks us to weigh today's decisions against their effects seven generations into the future. It is the standard we hold ourselves to, and the question we keep returning to.
What do you write about?
Science-based wildlife policy and public-lands stewardship, democratic accountability and constitutional restraint, and the civic culture that holds it all together. The writing appears in regional papers — The Seattle Times, The Spokesman-Review, the Washington State Standard — and in full here.
Who is behind the music?
Original songs written and recorded in Spokane with a small group of collaborators, including vocalist Keleren Millham and musical director Jay Condiotti. The songs explore awakening, conscience, and the long view — released in public as they come together.
How do I get in touch?
